Rosa Lee (Lightsey) Enlow

Rosa Lee (Lightsey) Enlow January 23, 1919 - April 3, 2008 Rosa Lee Enlow, 89, passed away April 3, 2008 at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Rifle, Colorado. She was born on January 23, 1919 to Robert Leonis and Rosa Eliza (Bailey) Lightsey in Haworth, Oklahoma. She was the fifth of six children. The family moved to Colorado in 1921 and stayed. She met and married John Wilson Enlow in Denver in 1945, shortly after his six year stint in the Marine Corps. Rosa Lee graduated from Wellington High School in 1936 and Barnes Business College in Denver in 1938. She was very proud of her work history, only taking seven years "off" (1957 to 1964) to stay at home with "her babies" until both daughters were in school. The family lived in Riverside Acres south of Littleton, Colorado until 1964, then Grand Junction until 1965, Grand Valley (now Parachute) from 1965 through 1968, then moving back to the eastern slope to Johnstown and Greeley until Rosa Lee retired from Selco Supply at the age of 62. Shortly thereafter she gladly returned to Parachute to be close to her daughter Zoe (Enlow) Lindauer and her growing family. She lived in Parachute (including six years with Zoe and family) until October of 2005 when it became necessary for her to move to the Veteran's Nursing Home in Rifle. She is predeceased by five brothers and sisters and their spouses as follows; Aubrey and Blanche Lightsey, S.L. and Gwen Lightsey, Grace and George Naylor, Jette and Viola Lightsey and Mary Delle (Toppy) and Judd Kafka. She is survived by her daughter Zoe Lindauer and her husband Gerald of Parachute, CO; their three sons, Chisum, 25, of Seattle, Washington; Dylan, 21, and his wife Lyndsey, 21, of Billings, Montana, and Ethan, 20, of Fort Collins, Colorado. She is also survived by her older daughter Jan Enlow and her son Christopher, 19, also of Parachute. Rosa Lee lived what some might consider a simple life. Her interests were her family, her work, the daily news and a select few very close friends. Her daughters were born when she was ages 38 and 39, so she spent her forties raising babies. She was a staunch Democrat, quietly adamant about her opinions and she never failed to vote. Maybe because of her longtime residency in Parachute, her favorite song was "Down in the Valley". After her retirement she kept busy with her grandkids, trips to visit daughter Jan in Nevada, then Texas; loved her crossword puzzles and she became a rabid Bronco fan--much to her family's amazement and amusement. She loved a game of cribbage and an occasional winter jigsaw puzzle until macular degeneration took away her sight. She met the challenges in her life quietly, often repeating "This too shall pass". Her sense of humor, intelligence, kindness and grace will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 6, at 1:00 p.m. at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home, 851 E. 5th St. Rifle. Memorial contributions can be made to the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Rosa Lee's name. Arrangements entrusted to the Snell-McLean Funeral Home.
