Buckner had been a pharmacist for 15 years. Following his pharmacy career, he worked as an insurance agent, retiring as state manager for Modern Woodmen of America Life Insurance.
He attended the First Baptist Church.
Buckner was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Herman Buckner
and a sister, Madora Hilley.
Survivors include: his wife, Loette Buckner of the home in Seminole; two sons, Robert Bruce Buckner of Oklahoma City and Sherman Wayne Buckner; a daughter, Brynda McCoy of Seminole; a sister, Constance Whisler
of Stillwater; five grandchildren, Brina Patrice Tignor, Damon Lee McCoy, Daphne McCoy-Schroder, Sophia Loette Molloy and Isabella Buckner and five great grandchildren, Alabama Loette Molloy, Keagan McCoy, Georgia Molloy, Miranda Tignor and Kelsey McCoy.
