Mrs. Debra Cheryl James, 55, of Blackshear died late Thursday night at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness. She was born in Steubenville, Ohio to Clifton Flener and Joan Louise Coulter Flener. Mrs. James lived the majority of her life in Waycross before moving to Blackshear three years ago. She loved taking care of and serving others, which made her job as a waitress for Shoney's and Applebee's so enjoyable. Her favorite, most important job she loved the most was that of a homemaker. She loved to take care of her family, loving her children and grandchildren with an unending heart. Mrs. James had a strong Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Steve Flener and a sister, Linda Waters

Mrs. James is survived by her husband Bill James of Blackshear, two sons, Michael Dryden of Waycross, Nathan Dryden and his wife Madison of Waycross, four grandchildren, Lauren White, Kolton Dryden, Trenton Dryden, Peyton Dryden, her mother, Joan Louise Flener of Waycross, two brothers, Joe Flener of Blackshear, Doug Flener and his wife Sonja of Waycross, a sister Joyce Rawson of Ohio, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Debra Cheryl James will be held 2 p.m., Sunday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, Georgia 31501.
