James T. "Deacon" Jones, 86, of Batesville died Friday, April 5, 2013 at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

He was born February 22, 1926 in Cushman, Arkansas and was the son of Ellis L. Jones and Merle Tate Jones.

He served in the US Navy during World War II and was a licensed locksmith and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Reno Construction Company until his retirement. He was a great story teller, collected electric trains and loved to tinker. Deacon always enjoyed helping people and was a devoted husband. He was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his wife or 64 years, Dorothy Pace Jones of Batesville and a sister, Betty Armstrong of Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 in the Roller-Crouch Chapel with Allen West officiating.

Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers will be Leo Wright, Tim Wright, Mitch Wright, and Dewayne Johnson.

Visitation is from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the funeral home.
