Mrs. Gloria June "Bunnie" Shelton, 72, formerly of West Milton, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at the home of her son, Pastor David Shelton, in Belington.
"Bunnie," as she was affectionately known to family and friends was born Aug. 29, 1937, at Junior, a daughter of the late Willard Robert "Stub" and Dorothy Rosalee Montgomery Pingley.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 53 years James Keith Shelton of West Milton, Ohio; a daughter, Denise A. Winemiller and son-in-law, David R. Winemiller, of West Milton, Ohio; and and a son, Pastor David P. Shelton and daughter-in-law, Melissa Shelton, of Belington.
Bunnie was blessed with four grandchildren, Sarah Shelton, Ashlie Shelton and Matthew Shelton of Belington and Madeline Winemiller of West Milton, Ohio. She is also survived by four sisters, Shelby and Donald Rowe of Troy, Ohio, Garnet and Donald Coontz of Belington, Brenda and David Coontz of Waldorf, Md., and Deedra Ann and Jeff Walker of Red Lion, Pa.
Bunnie was a 1955 graduate of Belington High School and attended business school in Pennsylvania following her graduation from high school. She worked for more than 20 years as a unit secretary at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. Bunnie was a member of Hoffman United Methodist Church in West Milton, later attended the Grace Baptist Church, Ludlow Falls, Ohio, and Cornerstone Baptist Church in Belington. She was very active for many years in each church, providing meals, attending to and participating in fundraising events and assisting members in times of need. Bunnie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, hunting for mushrooms, gardening, working at church and cooking.
Memorial service was held to honor her life and her service to the Lord was conducted by Pastor David Shelton. Interment is at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery near Junior.
