MRS NATHAN H CARTER
Walterboro, Sept 8 [1951] - Mrs Martha Bell Carter, 75, widow of Nathan H Carter, a native of Islandton, died at 6:30 pm today at Colleton County Hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Monday at Rice Patch Christian Church of which she was a member with the Rev J M Lane of Orangeburg, the Rev W J Swindell and the Rev Neal Wyndham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, directed by Colleton Funeral Home.
She was a daughter of the late Joe and Susan Polk Bell of Islandton. She had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs B K Mills, in Orangeburg for several years.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs Mills; two brothers, Newton bell of Islandton and Peter Bell of Hampton; four sisters, Mrs Josephine Bell Mills of Ridgeland, Mrs Sula Bell DuBois Trexler and Mrs N Tucker Moorer of Islandton and Mrs Hattie Bell O'Quinn of Charleston, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
