Murry Lee Boyd Dec. 7, 1921 - April 4, 2013 Mr. Murry Lee Boyd, 91, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 4, 2013. He was born in Patrick Co., VA on December 7, 1921 the son of the late Samuel U. Boyd and Mary Cochran Boyd. Mr. Boyd served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII where he received a Purple Heart. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Tobaccoville and was retired as the owner and operator of Boyd's Tire Center in Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Boyd is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Marie Gilley Boyd of the home, three daughters, Betty B. Turner (Billy) of Tobaccoville, Phyllis B. Cecil (Jerry) of Lexington and Margaret B. Cecile (Danny) of Boone, a son, Allen Lee Boyd (Patty) of Tobaccoville, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Tobaccoville with Rev. Marty Sewell officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:30, prior to the funeral at the church.
