He and his wife, Barbara A. Fichtner Raymond, celebrated 56 years of marriage on September 14th. He was born in Bedford, PA, a son of the late Leland and Kathryn Harned Raymond. Mr. Raymond was formerly employed as a school teacher in the science department for Lampeter-Strasburg School District, retiring in 1986 after 30 years of service. He was a graduate of Bedford High School, class of 1946, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Franklin and Marshall College and his masters from the College of William and Mary. Gerald served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Quarryville American Legion and Mt. Eden Lutheran Church, Quarryville. He was an avid Eagles fan, reader, and a student of history.
Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Angela K. Raymond married to Warren W. Meyer and her children Miles Rich and Julia Rich, Leslie J. married to Eugene D. Schegelmilch and their son Jeremey, and Tracy E. Raymond married to William H. Whittaker. Gerald was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Eton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15th, at 2:30 PM from the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA with Rev. Richard E. Geib officiating.
