Emma daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cain was born at Longford Kansas on May 3, 1896 and died December 21 1909 aged 13 years. She leaves to mourn a loving father and devoted Mother, eight brothers and three sisters. The funeral services were conducted in the Longfod Evangelical Church by the pastor Belden Weikel. Emma was a regular attendant at church and a faithful member of the Sunday Jr. K.L.C.E. and mission band, the latter society of which she was the treasurer. The public school had a half day session, Thursday December 23,to allow the school children a chance to attend the funeral in a body.
Emma was of a kind and loving disposition and all who knew her loved her. She was a general favorite of her school mates and was always jolly. She never shirked a duty. Her companions miss her very much but most of all she is missed at home. Her death was brought on by walking home in a snow storm which drenched her cloths and feet. Her parents did all they could to save her life by giving her the best medical attention even procuring the best trained nurse in the county.
She is gone but not forgotten, Their loss is heavens gain
