Hilda Burks was my paternal "Gramma" ~ Wife of Ernest Burks; mother of my dad, Arnold, and Larry Burks.
Her parents were George and Mary Ann Kerr, and she was the sister of Frank, Norma & Wilson (twins), Lorne, Jean and Doris & Dorothy (also twins.)
Gramma was always a strong and positive presence in my life. Some of her favorite expressions were "Holy Doodle!" and "Oh my, that's comical!"
Among other things, she inspired me to become a writer; she kept a daily journal and she was my first penpal. I miss hearing the way she would tell stories about her family around the dinner table or over a cup of tea.
I love and miss you, Gramma!
