SHAMOKIN DAM — Randall Chapman, 85, of Shamokin Dam, passed away on Wednesday morning, Feb. 13, 2013, at Nottingham Village Nursing Center, Northumberland.

He was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Lewistown, the youngest and last surviving child of the late Walter and Claudia (Yeager) Chapman, of Riverside.

Randall studied flying with Kenny Burrows at the Danville Airport and became a licensed pilot in 1945 at age 17.

He served as a sergeant and payroll clerk in the Army Air Corps/Air Force from 1946 to 1949 and subsequently was employed for 33 years as a factory clerk at the Merck Cherokee Plant in Riverside until his retirement in 1984.

Randall and his brother, Orville, of Newport, were avid golfers and frequented the Shade Mountain Golf Course in Middleburg for more than two decades following his retirement.

Randall married Genevieve Swank, daughter of John and Ruth (Krigbaum) Swank, of rural Elysburg, in June 1948, and the couple lived in the Riverside-Danville area until the fall of 1975, when they relocated to Shamokin Dam. Genevieve passed away in May 2008 following a lengthy illness.

Randall is survived by his son, Craig Chapman, and daughter-in-law, Vivian Jenkins, of Rapid City, S.D., as well as several nieces and nephews and his devoted friend and helper, Pastor Wayne Muthler, of Shamokin Dam.

A memorial service for Randall and Genevieve is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam, with Pastor Muthler officiating. Lunch will follow.

Private inurnment is scheduled for Friday, April 5, in St. Peter's United Church of Christ (The Blue Church) Cemetery near Paxinos.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to assist the needy be made to Kathryn's Kloset, c/o St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 68, Shamokin Dam, PA 17876.

Arrangements are by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
