Jean Marie McCoig, 83, of Grand Island, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Saint Francis Medical Center.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is in
charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. McCoig was born March 15, 1930 to Lloyd and Flossie (VanOwen) Kelley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 wonderful years, Beryl McCoig, on February 23, 2008.
Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter, Colleen McCoig (Ross Arnold) of St. Louis, MO; a son, Larry McCoig (Myra Frauen)of Columbia, MO; brother, Gary Kelley and sister, Kathleen (Kelley) Wacker.
Also left to cherish her memory are nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and she leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Connie McCoig and a grandson, Todd Whittaker.
Jean attended school in Monroe, NE and graduated from the Grand Island Beauty School. She was a small business owner of several hair salons and a cleaning service. Jean was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church.
Family and friends were Jean's passion and delight. She always had an open home to anyone who needed a place to stay or a good, home cooked meal.
