Richard A. Barr graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1892 and received the MD from Vanderbilt in 1894. After graduation, he practiced as a surgeon in Nashville with an office in the Eve Building. He was a clinical professor of Anatomy and Surgery at Vanderbilt from 1895--- 1920s. Dr. Barr served in the Spanish-American War and was Commanding Officer, Hospital Unit "S" (Vanderbilt Unit) during WW I, 1917---1919.
