David A. Dietz, 70, died on Monday, April 1, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Ann M. (Geesey) Dietz. The couple planned to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 20, 2013.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with Pastor Brian Connolly officiating.

A viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born on December 14, 1942, in York, he was a son of the late Michael and Bettina (Grove) Dietz.

Mr. Dietz was a 1961 graduate of Red Lion High School. David was a shipping manager for York Barbell Company, Inc., was part owner of York Enterprises, Inc., and retired from DL Metals, Inc. Mr. Dietz was a member of the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, York Heritage Trust, and a social member of VFW Post #945.

He enjoyed politics, NASCAR, football, the WWII Era, mowing his grass, and traveling. He and his wife traveled to all of the lower 48 states. Along with his wife, Ann, Mr. Dietz is survived by one son, David Dietz, II and his wife, Amy of York; one daughter, Kathy Ortiz and her husband, Martin of Port Chester, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Rachel and Elizabeth Ortiz, and Morgan, DJ, and Connor Dietz; two brothers, William and Michael Dietz, both of York; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406; York Heritage Trust, 250 E. Market St., York, PA
