Edwin was born September 11, 1918, in Dunbar, Neb., to Edward and Ollie (Shepardson) Cox. He graduated from high school in Nebraska City. Edwin served his country in the US Army-Air Corps from August 18, 1942 to January 9, 1946, serving in battles in Central Burma and India Burma. Edwin was united in marriage to Frances Bourlier on December 7, 1946. They were blessed with four children, Joan, Edwin, John and Deborah. Edwin's working career included 23 years at the Omaha World Herald and his last 6 years at Airlite Plastics, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Edwin; wife, Frances F., in 2011; three sisters, Maxine Gude, Marie Wickhorst and Mayola Meredith.
Edwin is survived by three children, Joan Parkinson and husband, David, of Simi Valley, Calif., John Cox and wife, Laura, of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Deborah Allmon and husband, Michael, of Council Bluffs; grandchildren and spouses, Troy Gilmore, Jesse (Kristi) Parkinson, Jamie (Brett) Scott, John (Sadie) Petry, Lt. Christopher (Amy) Cox, Heather Burke and Michael Allmon; eight great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Herb Wickhorst and Roger Meredith; nieces and nephews.
