One of a large family of girls, Ruth's first brief marriage in her hometown of Terre Haute, Indiana was to Arthur Joseph FUQUA.

Four years after Arthur's early death Ruth married William Leroy STUDEBAKER, a widower with three young children, in Indianapolis, Indiana. It's likely they met at work as both were employed at the Marmon Motor Car Company--Ruth as a clerk, "Roy" as a car tester. The family later relocated to Michigan--first to Detroit, then to Flint as he advanced within the automotive industry. Married 23 years, "Roy" preceded her in death in 1936.

In 1938, "Roy's" daughter Agnes (Studebaker) UTZ, whom Ruth had helped raise from early childhood, died in Detroit. It's likely that Ruth suggested burial at Highland Lawn Cemetery in the empty plot next to her first husband, Arthur Fuqua, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Ruth's home town. (See Find A Grave Memorial# 28694750)

Ruth's third, and final, marriage was to Claude ALLEGER of Grant County, Indiana.
