At the old farm home, 1 mile south east [sic] of Milton, Sadie may Abernathy, daughter of Wm. And Lucy Lee Abernathy was born Jan. 3rd, 1877.

In this community the happy days of childhood was spent and friendships formed. She was a student in the Milton public schools.

In the year 1894, she united in fellowship with the Christian church of Milton during the first evangelistic meeting held by P. D. Holloway.

Aug. 20th, 1907, she was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to John L. Hughes with whom she lived this sacred relationship until death severed the tie, after a brief illness Monday, May 2, 1921, at 6 p.m. at 44 years, 3 month and 29 days of age.

The deceased was a devoted disciple of the Milton Christian church and identified with the auxiliary of the Christian Women's Board of Missions, and an active worker and secretary of the Ladies Aid Society of her church.

Covering a period of 2? ____?_____ was an active member of ___?____ Sisters Lodge No. 47 and ____?_____ lodge as treasurer for _____?_____ years.
