Samuel R. Harvey, 78, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, at his residence in Glendale, Ariz.

He was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Vindex, Md., near Swanton, Md. He was the son of the late Samuel R. Harvey and Myrtle V. (Smith) Harvey.

Samuel is survived by his wife, Deborah and his six children: son, Steven (Pamla) Harvey, son, Gregory Harvey, daughter, Sandra (Craig) Kocher, son, James (Cheryl) Harvey, son, Samuel (Michelle) Harvey and daughter, Cynthia (Daniel) Nichols. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Samuel and Deborah were residents of Ohio for 46 years, last living in Wadsworth, Ohio before moving to Arizona in 2009. He retired from Babcox & Wilcox Co., Barberton, Ohio, after 35 years of employment. Sam spent two years in the U.S. Army, 1960 to 1962. He had been a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles-Aerie No. 555, in Akron, Ohio.

Cremation has taken place. graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m. on April 4, 2013, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Cave Creek, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sam's honor to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.
