France, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2013.
A life resident of the Akron and Green areas, Mr. France was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Standard Oil Company, was a former member of the Green Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, and served as a Green Township trustee for 12 years. Russell was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and O.E.S. Chapter 180 in Canal Fulton.
Preceded in death by his wife, Bettie; brother, Carl France; son, Russell A. France; and grandson, Jody France; he is survived by sons, Rick (Judi) of Thornville, Ohio, Mike (Kathy) of Casey Keys, Fla., and Dave (Gail) of Green, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street (one block NW of the square of 619 and Cleveland Avenue), UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685, where funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., with Rev. Dennis Engler officiating. Private burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron.
