A memorial service for Catherine Elizabeth Abbott, 93, of Bridgeport will be held in Victorville, Calif.
Abbott died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in Bridgeport.
Born Nov. 25, 1911, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Natale and Rosaria (Otere) Cannistracci, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; a granddaughter, Danielle Hines; two brothers, Paul Carr and Charlie Comistaci; and three sisters, Augie Blue, Geneva Bates and Lillian Cannistracci.
She is survived by three daughters, Phillis Birks and Marilyn Roddick, both of California, and Bette Hines of Boyd; a son, Richard Abbott of Maryland; five grandchildren, Dale, Dean, Dawn, Douglas and Danon; and four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Dylan, Shayla and Alexa.

Wise County MessengerKatie's ashes were buried by her husband's grave in the Victor Valley Memorial Park in Victorville, San Bernadino, California. Her parents were Natale Cannistraci/Comistaci and Rosaria Oteri Comistaci, married August 19, 1900 in a Messina Village called Catarrati. They were born in Messina, Sicily and entered the US through Ellis Island. Natale on June 5,1905 on the Perugia and Rosaria on May 7, 1909 with her 2 small children Letteria & Paolo on the Liguria. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1911. She had 5 siblings. Lillian, Paul, Charlie, Joann Geneva, & Angelina. All preceded her in death. She married Kenneth Wilson Abbott (June 16, 1911-April 1985). The had 4 children; Phyllis, Marilyn, Betty Mae, and Richard.
