Mrs Nancy J Overman, wife of the late Patrick H Overman, was born March 15, 1838 in Calloway County, KY. being a daughter of the Rev. Isaac Coker and Jane his wife an old pioneer Baptist preacher who moved to Indiana settling in Clark Co Dec 31, 1854 with his family. Died May 19, 1930 at the ripe old age of 92 years, 2 months and 4 days. She united with the Sinking Springs Kentucky Baptist church in 1853, later with the Bethel Baptist church in 1865 and 20 years ago transferred here her membership to the Baptist church in this city where she has lived as a consistant Christian to the time of her demise. In the year 1861 Dec 31 she was married to Patrick H Overman in Clark County, to this union were born 7 children of whom five survive her namely: Mrs Jennie A Bradfield of this city, Rev I. C. Overman of South Bend, Indiana, Mrs C E Stout, Joseph W, Charles H Overman, all of Indianapolis, Indiana. She moved to Scott county in 1865 and remained here ever since. During the last few years of illness, her sufferings at times were great but two days before her death she was taken to her bed became reconciled to the inevitable fell into a deep peaceful sleep and never struggled when the end came, like falling into a dreamless sleep to the busy woman to that of a child tired with play, and awakening as a child refreshed by untroubled slumbers. During her long christian career it is a well known fact by those who knew her best her main aim in life was to look after care for and put forth her best efforts among the sick or in distress and lending a helping hand to those in need, no matter when called or conditions surrounding she always went and administer in actual work.
