Roy Randall French from Stratton passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Heritage Hall in Wise on Saturday March 30, 2013 after a long illness at age 68. He was born in Stratton on March 13, 1945 to his proud parents Goldie French and the late Aubrey French.
He left Dickenson County in 1962 and lived several years in Michigan, Kentucky and Ohio. When he retired he returned home to Virginia which was more than 20 years ago. He was a devoted son, brother and uncle who always had a helping hand when needed. His kind loving heart and the special way he had of nodding his head with a grin on his face when he greeted you will be missed. He was such a vital part of this family and we were so blessed to have had him in our lives.
He is survived by his 90 year old mother Goldie French and brother Evans French both of Stratton and brother Danny & wife Jennifer French of Wise, a special niece Sarah French Harris and her husband Adam and their son Rahlyja Evan Thomas of Big Stone Gap. Roy also has many other beloved nieces, nephews and friends that he always enjoyed spending time with.
He was preceded in death by his father Aubrey French and sister Gaye Little both of Stratton and sister Patsy Lee of Coon Rapids, Iowa.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home with Robbie Hay officiating. Burial will follow at the Smith Cemetery, Smith Ridge Section, McClure, Va.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
