Funeral service for former Frederick resident, Kimberly J. Hughes, age 55, of Mesquite, Texas will be at 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2013 at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Les Banks and Rev. Ronnie Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Hughes passed away on April 1, 2013 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

Kimberly Jeannette Stokes Hughes was born on December 13, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas to Melvin Ralph and Dorothy Faye (Chesser) Stokes. She attended Weaver Grade School, later transferring to Frederick Junior High and later graduating from Altus High School in 1976. After high school, she went to Western Oklahoma State College in Altus. She had worked as a pharmacy tech in Franklin, Tennessee for several years. Upon returning to Oklahoma, she was employed by Webster University at Fort Sill and Altus. On June 28, 1997, Kim was united in marriage to John Charles Hughes at the Holy City in the Wichita Mountains. They moved to Mesquite, Texas in 2003 where she worked as a teachers aide before devoting her full time to her parents, husband, children and grandchildren. She was always available as a care giver for any that needed her. She was devoted to her faith and her family. Being a grandmother was the love of her life. Kim was a member of Tesca Baptist Church in Frederick.

She is survived by her husband, John Hughes of the home; three daughters, Melanie Baines and her husband Ray of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Morgan Carroll and her husband JoDan of Altus, and Jennifer Blackford and her husband James of Kinta, Oklahoma; three sons, Jon Michael Hughes and his wife Carrie of Elgin, Jay Hughes and his fiancé Katie Becker of Hillsboro, Kansas and Jacen Hughes of Battle Creek, Michigan; thirteen grandchildren, Kaylen, Maddex and Jett Carroll, Marlee and Lily Kate Johnson, Zachary Baines, Brittany and Brandon Blackford, Laurel and Jaxson Hughes, Laken and Jacob Hughes and Katelynn Hughes; her parents, Melvin and Dorothy Stokes of Altus; her mother-in-law, Louise Hughes of Frederick; one sister, Karen Hawthorne and her husband David of Altus, one brother, Greg Stokes of Houston, Texas; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and several very important friends from the Houston area.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Custer and Minnie Mae Chesser; paternal grandparents: Walter and Mary Stokes; and one grandson, Jerrick Hughes.
