Lydia M. Dobrick was born February 19, 1912, to Robert and Martha (Angerhofer) Dobrick at Minneapolis, MN. She attended country school near Aberdeen. She graduated from school in 1927.

After school she married Alva Bain on May 16, 1929, at her parents home near Aberdeen. They made their first home at her parents' farm for one year. They moved west of Aberdeen and farmed until 1969 when they moved into Aberdeen. Mr. Bain died on January 25, 1970. Lydia continued to make her home in Aberdeen until her death.

Besides being busy raising twelve children and helping on the farm she enjoyed crafts, dressing dolls, collecting bears and crocheting. In her later years she enjoyed watching old westerns and Little House on the Prairie. She very much enjoyed reading books.
