Bert A. Messersmith

NEIMAN - Bert A. Messersmith, 86, husband of the late Mrs. Dora May Kraber Messersmith, Glen Rock RD 2, died at 4 a.m. Thursday in Hanover General Hospital where he was a patient two and one-half weeks.
He was a son of the late George S. and Sarah Jane Roser Messersmith and was a life-long resident of Codorus Township, having resided near Neiman the past 70 years.
He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of St. Jacob's (Stone) Church and Sunday school; Early American Steam Equipment and Old Equipment Society, Inc.; Mason-Dixon Historical Society; Kinzer Historical Association in Lancaster County; Life membership of the Maryland Steam Historical Society; Jefferson Fire Co., and Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Co.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Chester Glatfelter, Glen Rock RD 1; Mrs. Alvine K. Spies, Glen Rock RD 2, and Mrs. Cletus Sterner, Glen Rock RD 1; five grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock. His pastor, the Rev. Richard C. Weaver, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Jacob's (Stone) Church Cemetery.
