Hazel was the biological Daughter of Nancy Catharine Swallow and Perry Watson Tice. Hazel's parents never married and Hazel's paternity can not be determined, without DNA testing, to be determined with 100% percent surety, thus the genealogy of any direct lineal descendants of Hazel's, regrettably, can not be determined. Please view Hazel's Mother's Memorial for a further explanation of this as the explanation for the identity of Hazel's Father is very complicated.


Hazel M. Tice was born on January 16, 1896 in Independence Township, Washington County, Ohio. Hazel's life, seems to have been marked by a certain amount of stability, something that Hazel would have lacked with her half-siblings because of the many liaisons that her mother had with various men which resulted in children, but not marriage. Hazel' life, in general, seems to have been relatively stable; she married once and all of her children were by the man that she married, that is Jessie Adam Forshey.

Hazel married Jessie on October 3, 1912 in Sistersville Township, Wetzel County, West Virginia. He was the son of Oliver C. Forshey and Elizabeth Agnes Enochs. Jessie was born on November 2, 1886 in Franklin Township, Monroe County, Ohio.


Jessie Adam Forshey and Hasel M. Tice had the following children:


1. FOSTER FORSHEY was born on May 17, 1912 in Lower Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio. He married Amanda Leona Moore on April 25, 1931 in Washington County, Ohio. Amanda was the Daughter of John W. Moore and Dessie (unknown maiden name) who was born on September 24, 1909 in Whipple Township, Washington County, Ohio. Amanda died on March 17, 2002 in Zanesville Township, Muskingum County. Foster died on August 15, 1986 in Cambridge Township, Guernsey County, Ohio. Ohio.


2. MILDRED M. FORSHEY, who was born on July 6, 1913 in Monroe County, Ohio. Mildred married Fleet Van Fossen on May 10, 1930 in Caldwell Township, Noble County, Ohio, son of Franklin Seymour Van Fossen and Tonia Estella Logan. Fleet was born on March 9, 1905. Mildred died on December 29, 1992 in Ohio and Fleet died on October 18, 1997 in Parkersburg Township, Wood County, West Virginia.


3. VONNIE ELEANOR FORSHEY, who was born on December 4, 1915 in Monroe County, Ohio.

She died on 14 Apr 2002 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio.

Vonnie married one time, but bore a Son, that is Floyd E. Thompson, by Joseph Thompson. Joseph is listed as "Joe" in Floyd's marriage record in Noble County, Ohio in 1953. The ONLY Joseph/Joe Thompson found in either Washington County (the county in which Vonnie's parents were living in 1920) or in Noble County, was Joseph Thompson of Stock Township, Noble County, Ohio, who in the 1930 Census and thereafter is found to be living with and married to a Wife named "Christine". That particular Joseph Thompson was born around 1883 and was old enough to be Vonnie's Father.


Vonnie's first and only known Husband was James Leroy Hupp, whom she married on May 29, 1939 in Noble County, Ohio. James was the Son of John Merriman Hupp and Dessie Jane Walters. James was born on May 28, 1901 in Jefferson Township, Noble County, Ohio and he died on May 27, 1983 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio. In the 1940's Census, both Vonnie and her Son, Floyd, are living in the household with Floyd's step-father.


4. DOROTHY MAXINE FORSHEY, who was born on March 15, 1917 in Washington County, Ohio. Dorothy married two times.


Dorothy's first Husband was Charles Brady Leisure, whom she married on March 25, 1932 in Middlebourne Township, Tyler County, West Virginia. Charles, the Son of James H Leisure and Emma Vanfossen, was born on April 21, 1903 in Franklin Township, Monroe County, Ohio.

Her second Husband was Warren F. Moore, whom she married on September 12, 1952 in Muskingum County, Ohio. Warren was the Son of John W. Moore and Dessie (unknown maiden name). He was born on March 4, 1921 in Summerfield Township, Noble County, Ohio. He died on 14 Feb 1984 in Cambridge Township, Guernsey County, Ohio.

Dorothy Maxine Forshey Leisure Moore died on September 17, 2000 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio.



Hazel died on died on October 26, 1966 in Noble County, Ohio. Jessie died a little over a year later, on March 23, 1968 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio.
