Harry served as a Technician Fourth Grade, 105th Engineer Combat Battalion, 30th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Washington County, Maryland prior to the war.

Harry "Died Of Wounds" received in action during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

"Technician Fourth Grade Harry W. Stone, who was wounded July 25, in the European invasion, died of his wounds in an English hospital on August 1, according to word received yesterday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. U. G. Stone, Hagerstown, Route 5.

The 31 year old county boy had been in the Army for six years. He was first stationed in Panama, then in Iceland, he only recently been transferred to the European theatre of war and had been in France only a short time before his injury.

Besides his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Melvin, Millard and U. Garland; and sister, Hilda L."
