Rodgers ""Jim" Stark, 83, Laporte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1:30pm in IU Health Laporte Hospital, Laporte, Indiana.

He was born June 22, 1929 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Edward A.& Lydia L. (Sadenwater) Stark. In Michigan City, Indiana on September 8, 1951 he married Carole Dostie, who preceded him in September of 1991. Surviving are 2 Daughters, Jill (Ronald) Niegos of Laporte, Indiana, Linn (Clifton) Furois of Michigan City, Indiana; 2 Sons, Mark Stark of St. Joseph, Michigan, Jack (SuAnn) Stark of Laporte, Indiana; 3 grandchildren, Art Thatcher, Cory and Tyler Stark; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; 2 Brothers, Ernest (Ann) Stark of Rockford, Illinois, John (Judy) Stark of Michigan City, Indiana; He was preceded in death by Grandson, Evan Stark; Sisters, Jeanne Dawson, Bernice Applebee, Ethel Dawson, Betty Stark, Alice Stark and Ruth Janoski; Brothers, Wallace, LeRoy, and Edward Stark

He received his private pilot license at age 50. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Stark retired from Joy Mfg after over 30 years and was a supervisor at his retirement. Loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild.

Visitation hours will be from 4pm till 8pm Wednesday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.

Cremation will take place and private family burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana.
