Gladys Virginia Reid Marsh Weakley, 85, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2010, at NHRMC, Wilmington, North Carolina.
She was born in Rockbridge County on May 29, 1924.
Gladys is remembered by her cheerful disposition and genuine smile. She was recognized as a crafts woman of excellence, a member of the Christian Women's Club and Gideons Auxiliary of Culpeper, and as a Girl Scout leader in Waynesboro. She attended Grace Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Marsh and Riley Weakley; and a brother, Paul Reid.
Surviving family members include her brother, Clarence Reid and his wife, Betty; and a sister-in-law, Mary Reid. Also surviving are four children, Darrell Marsh, Ronald Marsh and his wife, Edith, Patricia Wiriya, and Charles "Bill" Marsh and his wife, Sonja; her grandchildren, Charles "Skip" Marsh, Anne Atkinson and her husband, Obby, Amy Marsh, Andrew Marsh and his wife, Stephanie, Brian Marsh, Scott Marsh, Eric Marsh, and Amanda Wiriya. She dearly loved her great-grandchildren, Emma Atkinson and Caleb Wiriya.
A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Grace Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Visitation with the family will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be sent to Gideons International or Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.
