SMITH II Carr Edward Smith II, 35, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He left this earth to be reunited with his grandfathers, Leigh Fentress Breland and Carr Edward Smith I. Born in Mobile and raised in Winston-Salem, NC, Carr was an accomplished student athlete, having been awarded college scholarships in tennis and academics. He studied business and healthcare administration at the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. While seeking his degree, he used his skills to work as a youth tennis instructor, a position he found particularly rewarding. Carr leaves to cherish his memory, his grandmothers, Kathleen Thompson Breland and Patricia June Smith; his mother and father, Carol Elaine Breland and Carr Joseph Smith; and his brother and sister, Robert Scott Smith and Julia Michelle Smith. A wake will be held Sunday evening, January 13, from 5-8 at the Radney Funeral Home located on 3155 Dauphin Street. The family will be receiving from 5-7pm and the Blessed Rosary will begin at 7pm. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday, 10 am at St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Father Mateusz Rudzik presiding, followed by a gravesite service at Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Carolina's organ transplant charity, by sending donations to: Carolina Donor Services, Attn: Linda, 909 East Arlington Blvd, Greenville, NC 27858.
