He was a member of IOOB Chapter 3770 and a lifetime member of Eastern Lancaster County Rod and Gun Club No. 47, Gap.
Zander served with the 384th Air Service Group in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3575, Quarryville.
Born in Eden Township, he was the son of the late John W. and Virgie Snyder Zander.
He was married 57 years to Joanna L. Sheaffer Zander.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Leonard W., married to Karen L. Zander of New Providence, and Amos L., married to Jean M. Zander of Pequea; three daughters, Evelyn F., married to Weldon H.A. Baas of Lancaster, Linda A., married to John J. Hartzell III of Swedesboro, N.J., and Joan M., married to Frank J. Sheets of Quarryville; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard W.; and a sister, Ariene Zander.
