Mr. Smith was born in Ralls County, Missouri, and moved here in 1995 from Winter Springs.
He was a member of the Arch Street United Methodist Church in Hannibal, Mo., since 1930. A member of the Boy Scouts of America for more than 40 years, he administered the Eagle Scout Oath to 68 boys and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.
Survivors include a son, James Alfred, Santa Barbara, California; a daughter, Betty Overton, Edgewater; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
