Earl D. Russell, 87, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Saturday July 16, 2016. He was born February 4, 1929 in Warren County, IN to Charles and Esther (Throckmorton) Russell. He married Hiland M. Russell on March 22, 1968 in Islamorada, FL, she preceded him in death on May 6, 2008.
He was a 1947 graduate of Center Grove High School. He was a fifty year member of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #514, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine where he was a member of the motorcycle drill team, and a charter member of the Johnson County Shrine Club. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood, IN. He enjoyed NASCAR racing. He had worked in security for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for ten years and previously had worked in demolition for Ed Zebrowski Company in Indianapolis, IN and for his own company for over forty years.
Survivors include his daughter Brenda M. Dugan (Steve) of Indianapolis, IN; a son Jeffery E. Russell of Franklin; two grandchildren Jennifer Dugan of Indianapolis, IN Jeremy Dugan (Kristen) of Durango, CO; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Dugan, Ryan Dugan, and Tyler Dugan; and his brother Archie Russell (JoAnn) of Indianapolis, IN; and his care giver Sarah Hart of Spring Hill, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Raymond Russell and Marvin Russell. Greenwood Masonic Lodge #514 will conduct a masonic service Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street), in Franklin, IN with a graveside service to follow at 2PM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood, IN. Friends may call Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 11AM till service time at the mortuary.
