Born in Germany to Johann Georg Bauer and his wife, Anna Barbara Ruoss. Gottlieb Friedrich Bauer came to the United States approximately 1853 (per 1900 census), after which he went by the name Frederick G. Bauer. He settled in Philadelphia, PA and owned/operated a butcher shop his entire life passing the profession down to at least one of his sons. He and his wife, Magdalena Barbara Baier had seven children: Charles Friedrich, Friedrich, Elizabeth Barbara, Catherine, John, Henry, and Wilhelm.∼Son of John and Barbara Bauer.
