THE BUTLER HERALD, Taylor Co., Ga. Tuesday, September 15, 1908
BIUS BROTHERS SHOT AND KILLED NEAR SHELLMAN
Shellman, Ga. September 11. - A most deplorable tragedy occurred near here last night in which Hubert and Henry Bius, sons of John Bius, a well-to-do farmer living in the south-eastern portion of Randolph County were shot from ambush and instantly killed near what is known as Hick's Mill on their return from Shellman where they had been to sell cotton. They were found dead in the road early this morning with a pistol lying between them. They had sold considerable cotton the previous day and were known to have about $200 on their person, which was taken by the murders. No clue is had to the guilty ones. The Bius brothers are quite, upright citizens about 22 and 25 years of age and their murder has thrown the whole community in intense excitement.
Mr. John Bius was formerly a citizen of Taylor County, residing near Daviston, who moved with his family to Randolph County a few years ago. Mr. Bius is also a brother-in-law to Mr. W. L. Caldwell, and has also other relatives in the county who are much grieved over the sad occurrence.
