John was a US Army Air Force Veteran serving during WWII. He served in Coast Artillery, then the Army Air Force Defensive Home Measures with the Coast Artillery. He served as Active Aerial Gunner with the 8th Air Force in Europe.
He was a member of Southern View Chapel and American Legion Post 32. He was a salesman and warehouse manager for Hammond Sheet Metal Company for over thirty-two years. He later worked for the Illinois Secretary State as a security guard.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail conducting military honors.
