William (Bill) Gibson Fremon, 67, of rural Glenwood, Missouri died on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at his home.

The son of Charles Gibson and Laura Nell (Conkin) Fremon, he was born in Glenwood, Missouri on May 5, 1936.

He graduated from the Lancaster High School and attended college for a year prior to enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served during the Korean Conflict.

After returning home, he continued to live on the family farm north of Glenwood, Missouri and worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Department. Bill retired from the Postal Service in 1998. During his thirty five years carrying the mail on Route 3 out of Lancaster and Route #1 out of Glenwood, he was honored several times. He received a letter of commendation for his quick action in saving a home on his route from a fire. He was also honored for those 35 years of service for his dedication to the Postal Service upon his retirement.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #427 of Glenwood, and a member of the American Legion Post #280 of Moulton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in law, Rosaine Fremon.

He is survived by his two brothers, Charles (Bud) L. Fremon and Robert (Bob) R. Fremon and his wife, Vicky all of Lancaster, Missouri; a nephew, Jason Fremon of St. Charles, Missouri; nieces, Tracy Gates, Tami Crump, Jamasa Steggall, Julie Anderson all of Lancaster, Missouri and Tanya Rebura of Bremerton, Washington; one aunt, Wilma Coleman of Kingsport, Tennessee; several great nieces, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2003 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri at 2:00 p.m. with Brent Fleshman officiating. Special music will be by Beth Gravett, soloist and Maureen Watkins, organist. Special selections will be "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers will be Jack Erwin, Keith Kerby, Jeff Stevenson, Jeb Weaver, Glen Shively and Eddie Norman. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Drummond, Manley Smyser, Gary Carlson, Jim Henrich, Mike Dinger, Tom Lehman, Jeff Tallman, Larry Shively, Gordon Ford and Harold Weaver.

Masonic services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at Norman's Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Friends may call there between the hours of 7:00 p.m and 9:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Historical Society, Glenwood Cemetery or Hospice 2000. Interment will be in the Glenwood I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Glenwood, Missouri.
