The woollen mill referred to on the stone closed in 1954. The building which served as the mill shop has been converted into a dwelling.
This stone was placed by ALEXANDER STEPHEN of wool mill Bridge of Bogie in memory of his beloved wife MARY JOLLY who died 24th July 1813 aged 69 also their son ALEXANDER STEPHEN late manufacturer Huntly died 18th November 1817 aged 35 also his son ALEXANDER died 15th May 1810 aged 6 years and a half. The said ALEXANDER STEPHEN who erected this stone died 5th February 1825 aged 79 years. Also his son FRANCIS who died 3rd March 1855 aged 61 years also his wife MARGARET SPENCE who died 6th April 1877 aged 85 years.
Inscription records "aged 6 yrs & a half" - originally mis-transcribed as "2 years and a half".
