M. V. Clemens Taken Friday

Martin V. Clemens, 1310 Central Avenue, Centerville, died at 6 p.m. Friday, December 5, following a long illness. He was 79 years, two months, and 18 days old.
Born in Mercer County, Mo., September 17, 1879, he was the son of Samuel and Rebecca Morgan Clemens. He was married to Lillie Roby September 30, 1906. He was a retired miner.
Surviving are his wife, 11 children, Mrs. Katherine Peel and Mrs. Sylvia Abbott, Centerville; Richard, Seymour; Mrs. Lucille Cline, Mrs. Opal Perry, Arvel Clemens, Mrs. Dorothy Adler, LeRoy Clemens and Charles Clemens, Des Moines; Mrs. Hattie Jones, Ottumwa and Mrs. Virginia Clark, Carlisle; 43 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Hayes Clemens, Cedar Rapids and Elvin Clemens, Centerville. He was preceded in death bu his parents and two children.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 o.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald Dunham officiating. Burila will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
