Denny Wayne wrote an autobiographical sketch for a creative writing website in September of 2011 :
"Let's see ... I was born Denny Wayne Moore on February 12 in a small town in Georgia.
The first book I read from front to back and understood it was Dracula by Bram Stoker. The 2nd one was the one that got me hooked -- it was Where The Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. I was 11 at the time. It was the first book that ever made me cry.
In my teens I became fascinated with Edgar Allen Poe. He wrote in a way I could understand.
His life was in common with mine in many ways, and I shared his fascination with darkness and death.
In 1994 at the age of 20 I picked up the pen and haven't put it down since, citing Poe as the main influence of my work. I began researching my family in 2000 and along the way I discovered Poe was a distant cousin, among other notable figures in world and local history.
I am of Cherokee Indian, Irish, British, Scottish, French and German descent, and directly descend from the first Whites that settled in this country and of veterans who found in wars, beginning with the French and Indian War up to the Vietnam War. In learning about my ancestry I have learned alot about myself. Someday I hope to see my work in print."
