Funeral services for Mr. Charles Waterman Oakley, age 90 of Jackson, TN, will be conducted on Monday, December 24, 2012, at 10 a.m. at George A. Smith & Sons North Chapel. Burial will follow with military honors in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Mr. Oakley passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Jackson General Hospital in Jackson, TN.
He was born in Shop Springs, TN on September 4, 1922. He married Marchie Carr on June 2, 1944. He was a member of East Trinity United Methodist Church. He worked for Bellsouth Communications for 26 years.
Mr. Oakley is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Marchie Carr Oakley of Jackson, TN; daughter, Teresa Davis (Sonny) of Bolivar, TN; two sons, Ronnie Oakley (Freda) of Jackson, TN and Rusty Oakley (Mary) of Mt. Juliet, TN; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kerry Oakley; a granddaughter, Misty Oakley Brogdon; Brother, Claude Oakley and sister, Irene Height.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. in the North Chapel of George A. Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
