Celena was the daughter of Pierre Guerin (1832-1915) and Melina Bourdeau (1833-1913.) She married Damase Gagnon on November 3, 1885 at Pointe-aux-roche (Stoney Point) Essex County, Ontario, Canada. At some point after coming to the United States, Damase began to use the English version of his given name, which was "Thomas," and changed the spelling of their surname due to the recommendation of their parish priest who told them they were spelling their name "wrong." At the end of her life Celena lived with her daughter, Lillie, in River Rouge and died there.
