Lavina McPheeters was the daughter of Dr. Rev. William McPheeters and Lavinia Moore and was raised in Raleigh where she married on October 31, 1835 to Raleigh merchant, Jesse Brown. The couple had no known children and she was widowed in 1884 when her husband of 49 years passed at age 80. She survived him one year, passing in 1885 at age 76. Her name has also been found in public records as Levina and Lavinia.
