Melchus Heinke, who had long been an invalid, died at the home of his son, Phillip Heinke and wife north of Bremen, where he had made his home for a number of years, at the advanced age of 87 years, four months and six days. He had long suffered with gangrene, in addition to the frailties of incident to his age. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in Salem Evangelical church, followed by internment in the Bremen cemetery. Mr. Heinke was born in Germany, but had been a resident of this community for many years. his two sons Phillip and William Heinke of Bremen, and two daughters--Mrs. Weedman and Mary Heinke of South Bend.
