David was born in Olfen, Texas, to the late Felix and Ida Feist Braden. He moved to Mentz, Texas, for a short time and then moved to Wall in 1925. He worked the farm land with his five brothers and four sisters before joining the United States Army Air Corps. He served his country honorably from October 1942 to December 1945 in Wisconsin, Washington, D.C., New Mexico, Illinois, New York, Iceland, and San Angelo, with the rank of Sergeant. David also served as an honor guard for President Franklin D. Roosevelt's funeral.
He married Delores Pechacek in Rowena at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. They moved to Corpus Christi in 1953. In 1976, he returned to his original home in Wall, and lived there the rest of his life. On October 31, 1980, he married Della Blaschke. David loved playing scrabble with his wife and children. Up until the end, he could beat anyone he played. He loved the Wall Senior Citizens where he played dominos monthly. He and Della enjoyed the Polka Club and Western Club dances for many years. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and the Wall Co-op Men's Coffee Club. He loved sitting on the patio watching the crops and flowers grow.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Della, on April 3, 2012; brothers, Raymond, Walter, Harvey and Boots; sisters, Rosalee and Christine; and a great-grandson, Braxton Brown.
Survivors include his son, Ronnie Braden and wife, Ursula, of Leimen, Germany; daughters, Sylvia Brown and husband, Dan, of Midland, Marlene Landenberger and husband, Dan, of Midland, Kim Courtney and husband, Michael, of Big Spring; stepdaughter, Jo Lynn Rackler, of San Angelo; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a very caring niece, Janie Beasley, who always checked in on him.
