Spouse: Elizabeth Barnard m. 11 May 1800

Elizabeth (Barnard) Morse was interred into Mount Auburn Cemetery at her time of death in 1840. There is death Vital for Samuel at Mount Auburn, but I am not finding a date in the burial database. There is not a re-interment date on the orig burial records as well. There is a possibility that Samuel may have re-interred at Osier Path or Narcissus Path at Mount Auburn, Cambridge. But for now, the stone at Mount Auburn Cemetery is valid for Elizabeth, and a cenotaph for Samuel.

Central Burying Ground expanded their tombs in 1860 and re-interments started late 1859/early 1860 and didn't stop until about 1865. Of course, any family could give up a tomb and move into a larger lot into another cemetery, but the time-frame I am speaking of is exclusive to a specific construction. There were many re-interments at this time.

Samuel F Morse b. 1801 is the son of Samuel & Elizabeth (Barnard) Morse, and he is the owner of Lot 2220 at Osier Path, Mount Auburn. His son is and mother is with him as well. Elizabeth Barnard's name may be Sarah Elizabeth and she went by Elizabeth. She named her dau Sarah Elizabeth. This is what you are seeing on her Samuel F's death cert. Samuel and Elizabeth married in 1800, Samuel F was their first born child. Samuel F Morse named his child Samuel Henry Morse, it may be that this Samuel's middle name is Henry.

Samuel Sweetser:

Was born 13 Oct 1797 at Reading, Massachusetts. Because he maintained so often that he was born at 1796, and his death cert came out to 1796, that he may have been born that year, but not according to the Vitals. His parents were Thomas Sweetser and Sarah Pratt. They married 19 Mar 1795, so Samuel very well could have been born 1796. Thomas Sweetser Jr also stated he was born at 1796. Were Thomas and Samuel twins? Or was Thomas born at 1796 and Samuel was born at 1797? One was born in Dec, one in Oct, so I would venture to say Thomas Jr was born 1796, Samuel was born 1797.

Samuel's daughter, Josephine married William Harlow Morse. Every other record is stating his name was John Harlow Morse.

This lot was already photographed, there is not a stone for the Samuel H Morse buried 11 Jun 1860 in this lot. I am a family member, but I cannot get information from the folks at the cemetery any longer, and another family member is going to have to ask for the lot info.
