Pastor Jesse Paul "J.P." Kirkland of Life Tabernacle Church passed from this life to be with our Lord Jesus on September 12, 2011. He was 85 years old. J.P. attended Southern Bible College in Texas and completed his theology studies at Aenon Bible College in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to his 65 years of ministry, lP. lived, worked, and enjoyed his life in many ways including as a firefighter, war veteran, business owner, and expert sportsman. During his ministry, he built 5 new home missionary churches and pastored 8 other churches. J.P. worked for Chevrolet for many years until full pastorate. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Philippines. J.P.'s greatest passions were his wife and family, fishing, and most of all sharing the love and hope of Jesus. He is survived by his loving wife, Juanita, of 65 years, four sons, Kenneth E. Kirkland (wife Donna), Keith J. Kirkland (wife Beverly), Kevin K. Kirkland, and Kelly K. Kirkland (wife Robin) all of Texas, and one daughter Paula Lovato (husband Michael) of Gilbert, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his first born son, Jesse Paul Kirkland, Jr. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson, his sister Eloise Noah, 2 nieces and a host of friends and loved ones. Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 17 at West Resthaven Cemetery and Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue in Glendale, Arizona. The viewing is at 10:00 am with the funeral following at 11:00 am.
