The funeral of Chas. H. DeMoss was held from the M.E. church last Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Dr. Bascom Robbins, of Burlington, assisted by Rev. L.W. Foster, of this place. The funeral was in charge of the I.A. Taylor Post No. 196, G.A.R., who held the ritualistic services of the order at the grave. Interment was made in the Hartford cemetery.
Charles H. DeMoss was born May 14, 1843. He enlisted October 7, 1861, in Company F, of the 40th Indiana Regiment and served until December 4, 1864. He was united in marriage to Isabelle Rayl, in Indiana, April 5, 1870. To this union six children were born, four of whom, with the wife survive him. The children living are Wm. C. DeMoss, of Olympia, Wash., Geo. W., Charles Emory and Bessie, of Burlington.
The deceased was a member of the M.E. church and was a man of many good qualities. He was musically inclined and was a member of the Hartford Cornet Band for a long time. He resided in this place for many years and worked at his trade, that of a carpenter.
