Aaron H. Gray's pension records indicate he was born Sept. 22, 1832.
He enlisted 12.9.1863; mustered 12.30.1863.
The 8th VT was sent to New Orleans for duty along the Mississippi; on 7.4.1864 Aaron was admitted to the Marine General Hospital in New Orleans with Typo-Malarial fever. He was transferred to Modougall General Hospital it Ft. Schuyler, NY on 8.26.1864; on 9.15.1864 he was sent to General Hospital, Brattleboro, VT. He returned to duty on 12.13.1864.

While recovering in Vermont, he married Sarah Simpson in the fall of 1864.

He was discharged 6.28.1865.
