Victoria Kathleen Shirer, 85, 316 North Cullen St., Rensselaer, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Odd Fellow Home in Greensburg, Ind. having been in failing health for 10 years.
A native of Jasper County, she was born on June 8, 1897. She was the daughter of Daniel T. Marsh and Phoebe Tillotsen, both deceased.
She was a member of the Rensselaer High School Class of 1916 and worked as a secretary at the Jackson Funeral Chapel. She was married in Monticello on June 12, 1916 to Richard Shirer who passed away on July 8, 1946.
She was affiliated with the First Christian Church of Rensselaer, Rebekah Lodge 346, Gleaners Sunday School Class and was State President of Rebekah Assembly IOOF of Indiana from 1944-45.
She is survived by one son Robert Shirer, Morocco. One son preceded her in death. Also surviving are three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
One sister, three half-brothers and six half-sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services wil be held at the Jackson Funeral Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Monday,, Oct. 4 with Rev. Wayne Markward officiating. Burial will be in the Weston Cemetery.
A Rebekah lodge service wil be held at 7:30 Sunday Oct. 3 at the Jackson Funeral Chapel.
Friends may call at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jackson Funeral Chapel.
